How to FIX Ubuntu desktop sharing (vino VNC-server)

2014/12/22

My favourite VNC used to be x11vnc, but I decided to give a try to default Ubuntu desktop sharing (that is vino): too bad! I couldn’t even connect due to an authentication error.

After a little googling I found that fix. It boils down to this command:

dconf write /org/gnome/desktop/remote-access/require-encryption false

You can also issue this fix by a GUI, but you need to install dconf-tools (that is: dconf-cli + dconf-editor), and then unchecking the box as following:

After that, you can let desktop-sharing start, as usual:

And, of course, connecting from the vnc-client.
